The UA deploys number of Microsoft Exchange servers by which e-mail traffic, calendars, contact look-up and the like are managed. This means that, for using its full potential, one is bound to use Microsoft or Microsoft-derived products. Those are available for Microsoft Windows (Outlook), Mac OS X (Microsoft Entourage), and Linux (Novell Evolution).
It is still possible to use some of the features with other clients (e.g., Mozilla Thunderbird), most prominently mail receiving and sending, and contact look-up. Refer to E-mail and LDAP, respectively.

Microsoft Outlook
See Outlook 2003 Client SetUp for a MS Exchange mailserver Instructions Guide (pdf).
Microsoft Entourage (Mac OS X)
Entourage is distributed together with the Microsoft Office for Mac; please follow the instructions there.
See MAC OSX Entourage SetUp for a MS Exchange mailserver (PDF, in Dutch).
Novell Evolution (Linux)
Evolution™ Exchange for Microsoft Exchange allows Evolution clients to access accounts on Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003 servers. Like Evolution, it is free software and is licensed under the GPL.
Since the UA's upgrade to Exchange 2010, this will not work anymore. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-exchange/+bug/206346.
