 Forums available at user page
This is just a quick little reminder for all those who would like to discuss things at in a more friendly environment: There's always https://users.win.ua.ac.be to turn to and ask questions, get in touch, or just chat away about our alma mater: the Universiteit of oh-too-rainy Antwerpen.

Unscheduled downtime for PHP 5.3 upgrade
You may have noticed that during the last two weeks, this site wasn't quite functional at all, or heavily impaired. This was due to the fact that the system administrator upgraded to PHP 5.3 without announcement, and by that breaking many websites that hadn't been converted to the new version. I've spent time adapting some files here (mostly extensions), and the site should be fully operational again now. Thanks also to Pieter Belmans for helping out here!

 Wiki upgrade
With the imminent advent of MediaWiki 1.16, the UA Wiki too enjoys a slight overhaul. The most visible changes will include the new theme "Vector", developed by MediaWiki to give the endeavor a more modern appeal, and the new UA wiki logo.
Apart from that, things remain pretty much the same. :)

 Language policy
Questions have come up lately in how far it's possible to internationalize the wiki, that is, include other languages than English. As of now, unfortunately, MediaWiki doesn't have a clean and easy way to handle such situations. That's why we're defining a language policy that is supposed to help with creating multilingual pages which are easily maintained.

 Online!
The Wiki is online!
It did require some effort, but now all the pages of the old Wiki-like Drupal environment have been copied and transformed into this shiny new (inofficial) UA ICT Wiki.
I put some effort into getting a nice and modern look-and-feel into the thing, and I hope that motivates you to contribute! But also the information already available might save you precious hours of yelling at your computer.
Happy wikiing!

Introduction to the Wiki
Welcome to the inofficial UA ICT Wiki. This resource has been created by the community to provide a place for all UA ICT users to post tips, tricks, tutorials and other information.
The Wiki is supposed to complement the official UA resources, particularly (but not only) with respect to the unsupported operating systems (Mac OS, Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD,...).
Why log in?
Although not strictly required, you can login to this Wiki with your ordinary UA user name and password. This will allow you to modify the pages, associate contributions with your (user) name, and give you several other benefits (such as e-mail notifications on page change, or changing your site preferences).
Getting Started
The Wiki is relatively young, there's hence need for people to provide information, as well as building and enhancing the framework of this Wiki. Anyone may post articles as they see fit.
There are no conventions nor style guides yet, but it would certainly be consistent to follow the articles already written. For those new to the wiki, please check out the excellent Mediawiki editing guide and test out what they have learned in the Sandbox.
More and more and more
If you want to look beyond the wiki, there are user forums and a bug tracking system to be found on Nico's page.
And now: Happy wikiing!
