Removing clear all seems indeed a good idea.
The concept of global variables is something that I don't like so much either, and nested function would be a computationally clean solution for this. At the same time, I'm also aiming for readability of the code which might not automatically be given when nesting function properly.
Anyway, I put all this on the todo list.
